Nürburgring

EDM have successfully completed the build and installation of a number of interactive exhibits for the recently awarded contract for a number of interactive exhibits for Nürburgring Experience in Germany.

The circuit itself, said to be one of the most challenging race tracks in the world, is open to the general public and incorporates both a theme park and the 'Ring Werk' action museum which opened during 2009.

The interactive exhibits include a large scale walkthrough engine, three wind-tunnel interactives and a vintage F1 car.

The engine found at the entrance to one of the key areas, measures a colossal 7 x 6 x 5 metres. If the external scale isn't impressive enough, upon entering the engine under the 2 metre diameter cooling fan, visitors will view the internal workings in close-up as they pass along a slowly moving piston, crankshaft, valves and camshaft to show how the four stroke combustion cycle works.

The wind tunnels visualise the complex air flows affecting aerodynamic performance and the vintage F1 car touches on the history of motor racing by allowing visitors to climb into an old Alfa Romeo F1 motor car that sped around race tracks in the middle of last century. The controls, steering wheel, gear changes and pedal pressures demonstrate just how different it was to drive a Formula 1 car in the 1950s!
